How do I ship samples to BioRepository Resources?
You should contact us directly prior to any shipment of samples. We can share an example of our
Sample Shipping Guide. We would also want to discuss specifics about the shipment (i.e. what it will contain, the exact date you expect to ship and the expected date of receipt). Ideally, we would want to obtain a copy of the sample inventory prior to receiving the samples. This would allow us to enter all information into our database beforehand and minimize the time that samples would be logged and stored internally at BRR.

Are there any shipping regulations?
Packaging and shipping should conform to all regulations. Air shipments should conform to
International Air Transport Association (IATA) standards. Ground shipments in the United States should conform to the Department of Transportation (DOT) standards.

How do I ensure that my shipment stays frozen?
Dry ice (solid carbon dioxide) is the most common choice for shipments of biological materials that must remain frozen. Dry ice is considered hazardous material so appropriate labeling must be included with each shipment. Also, you must remember to pack a box with a sufficient amount of this material to ensure that an ultra low temperature is maintained throughout the shipping cycle. As biological samples are a valuable commodity, you must ship these materials in the most expedient manner possible. Ultimately, an overnight air shipment is ideal, and if using a reputable courier, they will be prudent enough to replenish a shipment with dry ice if unforeseen delays are encountered.

How do I ship light-sensitive material?
Light sensitive samples should be packed in amber vials or amber-coated plastic bags. You should also take care to notify your contact at BRR about the specifications for this shipment. We will take the necessary precautions internally upon receipt of samples.
